Lincolnton High School is located near downtown Lincolnton, the thriving county seat and geographical center of Lincoln County. Located approximately thirty-two miles northwest of Charlotte, Lincolnton is home to the Lincoln Cultural Center, Lincoln Medical Center, recreational facilities, numerous shopping centers, annual art/crafts festivals, and the Museum of Lincoln County History. Lincolnton High School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Lincolnton High School’s goal is to provide excellent educational opportunities for all students. Administration, faculty, and students take pride in a high level of achievement through academics as well as extra-curricular activities.

The total enrollment at Lincolnton High School for the 2020-2021 school year is close to 800 students with a staff of approximately 60 professionals.  Enrollment for the class of 2021 is approximately 160 students.

Reflecting the districts commitment to meeting the needs of all students, the core courses of language arts, math, science, and social studies are aligned to the North Carolina Standards.  Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered in all of the core disciplines.  Technology that includes shared laptops, virtual labs and interactive smart boards is also integrated throughout the curriculum. World language courses include French and Spanish from basic through advanced levels.  A wide variety of elective courses are offered in business, music, art, theater, physical education, engineering, social studies, language arts, and family and consumer sciences. Some of the elective courses offered in health science and business allow for the opportunity of certifications.

In order to provide educational programs that fulfill the unique needs of our upperclassmen, students who meet certain criteria are eligible to participate in the following educational options. 

  • Dual Enrollment Program: Juniors and seniors may earn high school and college credits by enrolling in courses at Gaston College. 

  • Career Exploration Program: Seniors may explore career choices participating in an internship program.  Our Engineering students may also earn college credits through the Project Lead the Way curriculum at the Lincoln County School of Technology (LCST).

  • Workforce Development Programs:  The Lincoln County School of Technology is designed to increase interaction among business/industry, the community, and education. Students attend daily 90-minute classes during the 10th, 11th and 12th grades.  Bus transportation is available 1st, 2nd and 3rd periods.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses prepare students for AP tests, which many qualify them for college credit and/or exempt them from freshman-level college courses.  Last year, Lincolnton High School administered over 300 AP tests to our students.  Lincolnton High School also offers almost every existing AP exam as part of the school’s curriculum choices.  Available courses offered at LHS are:

      * European History * United States Gov. & Politics *Biology

A total of 28 credits are required for standard graduation.
