LHS Alum breaks school record

Kayla Smith broke EKU's 38-year-old record in the women's 100-meter dash on Friday at the UNF Invite in Jacksonville, Florida. Her time of 11.53 edged the previous school record of 11.56, held by Rose Gilmore since 1983, and it is currently the No. 1 time in the conference. The Lincolnton, North Carolina native also anchored EKU's 4x100 meter relay, which ran a time of 45.69. That is the third-fastest time in EKU history and the fastest in more than 28 years. It currently ranks No. 2 in the OVC. Kayla Smith is in her freshman year at EKU!
